Summer of 2024, Life By Music had the privilege of hosting a remarkable Blues Camp led by the legendary Fernando Jones from Chicago. This exciting event, held on June 27-28 at the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Nevada, Reynolds Clubhouse, brought the soulful sounds of blues music to Las Vegas, creating an unforgettable experience for 40 young musicians.
The Birth of Blues Camp in Vegas
Life By Music first connected with Fernando Jones at the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) convention, where Jones delivered an inspiring talk on “How to Put on a Summer Camp.” Jones, the founder of Blues Kids of America, has been running blues camps for over 30 years. His vision to expand the reach of blues music to new locations led to a fantastic collaboration with Life By Music, bringing the camp to Las Vegas for the first time.
An Unforgettable Two-Day Event
The two-day camp at the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Nevada was filled with music, learning, and fun. Fernando Jones brought three other talented musicians to introduce the kids to various aspects of blues music, including drumming, singing, guitar, keyboards, and harmonica. The sessions were designed to be interactive and engaging, allowing the kids to experience the joy and power of making music.
