Through this course, participants will learn fundamental guitar and vocal techniques, explore the art of songwriting, and experience the power of collaborative music-making.
Course Overview
This is a beginner course for veterans who want to learn how to jam on the guitar and express themselves through songwriting.
By the end of the course, participants will have a foundation for playing guitar, an insight into how to turn their ideas into actual songs, and will understand how to “jam” with others.
This course is designed to focus on the “art of the jam.” Each week veterans will play along with popular songs and learn practices to help facilitate the flow of their creative expression through music.
- Participants will be provided with a guitar for the duration of the course.
- In addition to class time, participants will be encouraged to practice at home, with guidance provided by jam tracks and videos.
- Guest speakers, such as professional musicians and songwriters, will be invited to share their experiences and insights.
- Each class will have a strong focus on fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
